A la Xina tampoc no hi ha estudiants de química
El que se sap per als països occidentals, passa encara més fortament als països emergents com la Xina. Al Chronicle of Higher Education s’hi comenta que
Students and their parents have a misconception about chemistry degrees. They think that chemistry experiments are risky or dirty, and that chemistry does not have good career prospects.
Veig que no pas només als països occidentals hi ha una mala imatge de la química. Però a la Xina s’hi afegeix l’alta velocitat com s’està progressant, que comporta un biax cap a l’àmbit tecnològic. El que m’agrada més de l’article del Chronicle és
Many chemistry educators think that students should be taught more practical skills and that education should be more technology-oriented. This doesn’t match the needs of the chemical industry, which places more value on an in-depth knowledge of basic chemical theories and creative thinking than on an understanding of technologies that could be obsolete within a few years.
O sigui, que les empreses químiques xineses prioritzen el coneixement profund de les teories bàsiques químiques i el pensament crític, més que no pas la comprensió de les tecnologies, que poden quedar obsoletes en pocs anys.
