No acabo de veure els usos acadèmics del Facebook, però en canvi cada dia més veig els usos interessants del twitter (i el seus derivats com el twitxr) en l’àmbit universitari. Però no sóc pas jo sol. Hi han coincidit dos articles ben diferents.
Per un cantó, acaba de sortir un recull d’idees per crear un ambient de twitter que sigui únic: How-To: Create a Unique Twitter Background – com comunicar clarament la marca personal o corporativa. M’ha agradat que faci servir la paraula inspiració. A mí m’agrada també imaginació.
I per un altre cantó, el THES publica Students and tutors ready to embrace the Twitter bug. S’hi diu que
As local newspapers decline, universities are going to have to do more of their own work to communicate with their communities, he said, and Twitter is one medium open to them. It is also a way of getting two-way communication going with students, many of whom keep up with the latest technological developments and are avid users of it already.
El twitter, doncs, és una comunicació bidireccional amb els estudiants. Però encra és dubtós que sigui vàlid per a la recerca:
But if Twitter is useful as a communication tool, it does not necessarily follow that it will be useful to academics as a tool assisting scholarship.
Mr Mitchell said that there were academics on Twitter, but most were working in areas linked to computing or communications.
I una crítica:
Where micro-blogging is likely to get a foothold in academia is at conferences, where reaction to speakers may make timeliness a more important issue.
“For most academics, Twitter will provide a poor return for time invested. There are generally other tools more appropriate for specific tasks.”
És interessant això de “timeliness”, o sigui, la intermporalitat. Ja m’hi trobo al facebook: moltes coses són, a més d’intrínsecament irrellevants, emíferes, deixen de tenir interès de seguida.
De fet, al meu blog intento que les coses mantinguin el seu interès durant un temps, si pot ser mesos o anys. Però no veig pas que el twitter no hagi de fer això. El twitter és microblogging, però és blogging.
