La visita a la UGA m’ha facilitat fer un vol pel seu web. Com a tota unviersita americana, cuida especialment la part de relació amb la societat.
He vist que la Universitat de Georgia té un vicepresident de Public Service and Outreach. La figura és important, però tant o més n’és les iniciatives:
The Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach’s (OVPPSO) primary strategy for redefining the university’s service and outreach mission has been to adopt an initiative-based approach to university outreach. The goal is to encourage teaching, research, and outreach activities that address six interconnected initiatives. Current initiatives include:
Building Strong Communities
Protecting Georgia’s Environment
Protecting the Health and Well-Being of Georgians
Addressing Georgia’s Demographic Profile
Extending Georgia’s World Reach
Supporting Pre-College Education
Encouraging the Scholarship of Engagement
Potser el que més ens separa de les missions de la Universitat de Catalunya és que quedi clar que cal crear una comunitat conhesionda, Una reapassada ràpida a les diferents iniciatives de cada apartat proporciona bones idees per a les nostres universitats. A vegades mirant el que es fa en un lloc una mica diferent permet fer canvis que permetin assolir millor la missió de la Universitat.
