Ahir l’Inside Higher Education publicava una interessant entrada titulada Re: Hellllllp!!!! on comentava que alguns professors d’universitat estan formant els seus estudiants per escriure bé els correus electrònics que els adrecen.

Realment el correu electrònic és més que no pas una manera formal de comunicar-se en el món professional, també és d’alguna forma una entrada al món adult. Per a un estudiant universitari, redactar formalment, ser clar, començar i acabar bé un missatge, és important de cara al seu futur.
Somewhere between birth and college, students hopefully have learned how to compose concise, grammatically correct and contextually appropriate emails. Often they haven’t. So, to head off 3 a.m. need-your-help-now emails from Jake No Last Name, many professors explicitly teach students how to email them at the start of the academic year.
M’agrada de totes formes aquest article perquè diu que les coses canvien, i les formes de comunicar-se també. I que el professorat universitari ha de saber adequar-se a les noves formes d’expressió dels joves.
Too much of the conversation around email etiquette is focused on how students address teachers instead of how teachers address students, Stommel added. “Both are equally important,” as professors “hold a lot of power over students, and so how teachers communicate with students has a direct effect” on student learning. (To that point, a humorous 2017 Twitter thread by @collegestudentpoked fun at professors’ one-word answers to students’ thought-out emails.)
Students — as people — will make mistakes, Stommel said, “because teaching and learning is hard.” Patience is important, as is educating each other and creating “educational spaces where each of us feels comfortable setting boundaries and talking directly about those boundaries.”
A l’article hi ha diverses opinions, però queda clar que les expectatives de resposta a un e-mail, el seu redactat, el seu to, la seva estructura… són diferents de la conversa via missatgeria instatània. I que saber fer servir bé el correu electrònic és important per a una bona relació estudiants-professors… però sobretot com a aprenentatge de cara al món professional de futur.
Ah! i el correu electrònic no és pas mort. Encara.
